Coaches Corner
COACHING REQUIREMENTS
Below are five requirements for all coaches, as required by USA Hockey.
All coaches must have the following credentials completed by the start of the season, with CEP Level clinic needing to be completed by December 31st.
- Current USA Hockey Number
- This must be renewed each year in order for coaches to be on roster.
- $46, plus $8 for NYSAHA.

2. Current CEP Level
- USA Hockey requires yearly advancement of the Coaching Education Program.
- There are four coaching levels (1-4).
- Mite coaches may remain at level 1 even if it has expired.

3. Age Specific Module (online)
- Coaches must complete the online age specific course for the level they are coaching at.
- You only need to take any level once, but if you coach at a new level the following year you must complete the module for that level.
- Modules include: 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16/18U and Goalie

4. SafeSport Module (online)
- Must be renewed every year.
- SafeSport Training
5. Background Screening
- You must have this screening to be around NHYHA players.
- Valid for 1 year.
- USAH Approved Background Screening
COACHES & MANAGERS
One of the essential functions of coaches and team managers is to manage team communications with players and their families. Below are links to certifications you must complete to be a coach with the Whitestown Youth Hockey Organization.

To be a coach at WYHA, you must register for a USA Hockey Membership, take a USA Hockey CEP class, pass a Background Check, take and pass the USA Hockey Safe Sport Online Training, and complete an Age Specific Module for the age group you will be coaching. Please find links below for all credentials:
NOTE: All fees for the coaching requirements are reimbursed by WYHA (for WYHA Coaches & Board Members)
USA Hockey Registration, SafeSport, Age Specific Module & Background Check must be completed and current BEFORE you set foot on the bench or ice, NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
*The ONLY certification you can wait on is the level certification if you have a current certification that expires on or after 12/31 (Mite coaches may stay expired as long as you completed your level 1). Even if yours is set to expire after 12/31 we still need your CEP number!
